#BeTheCount Census Art Contest

  • 04/01/2020
  • 05/01/2020
  • One Month Digital Campaign

Thursday Network has partnered with The Black Swan Academy and DC Action for Children to launch a virtual student arts competition to help middle and high school students channel their creativity during the COVID-19 school closures.

Despite the closure of schools, students are continuing to create, dream, and express their ideas through their own unique talents and abilities. We’re inviting students from across the district  to enter our #BetheCount Contest and inspire youth and their families to complete the census. It’s a chance to be involved in a movement that only happens once every 10 years. The census is a once-in-a-decade opportunity for DC to secure resources and representation for their families. Data is used to decide where federal funds will be allocated, redraw legislative boundaries, and more.

Click here to learn more about our Census Art Contest. We are super excited to see all of your art! A panel of accomplished artists will select a middle and high school first prize winner to receive a $200 gift card each. Middle and high school second place winners will receive a gift card of $100 each. Middle and high school third place winners will receive a gift card of $50 each. We will also have honorable mentions. Submit your entry by May 1st. Winners will be announced May, 15, 2020.
